Learning Beyond the Classroom
To achieve this, education must be broadened enough to encompass a wider range of learning opportunities, experiences of roles and situations that mirror what is required in society.
Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBTC)
Our Learning-Beyond-the-Classroom initiative largely rests on our recognition of education as a quest to prepare young people for the responsibilities of an ever-evolving future. As changes in society create new educational challenges, the need to not rely solely on dedicated teachers to deliver the knowledge and skills that young people require becomes apparent.
More than ever, it has become imperative to connect what happens in classrooms to wider opportunities for learning: to model platforms that forge active partnerships between professionals of diverse disciplines and young learners. To achieve this, education must be broadened enough to encompass a wider range of learning opportunities, experiences of roles and situations that mirror what is required in society. This form of education nurtures greater understanding in young people: understanding of themselves, their motivations and goals in life, and their chosen (prospective) disciplines and careers.
LBTC is a direct learner-expert real-life experience targeted at expanding learning opportunities to improve students’ marketability and their understanding of skills adaptability. The initiative provides opportunities for our students to gain a better perspective on taught concepts through immersive interactions with professionals and real-life application processes.
Through this programme, our students have over the years, developed a curiosity for learning, been able to make more-informed career decisions, and gained internship opportunities.
