Leadership and Social Impact
At Wellspring College, we are deliberate about providing the training, resources, relationships, and opportunities that promote leadership education for the grooming of the total child.
Whether in the workplace or the classroom, leadership education is critical to helping people perform optimally. People that perceive themselves as leaders tend to communicate better, and are team-oriented, problem solvers, and responsible decision-makers. While hard skills do matter, they can become ineffectual in the absence of necessary essential soft skills such as leadership.
Unsurprisingly, research shows that the development of leadership skills correlates positively with students’ academic performance, social interactions, and emotional stability.

Young Leaders Development Programme
This is a leadership programme designed specifically for student leadership, comprising the School Prefects and the Class Captains. The aim is to teach leadership principles which would enable them effectively to discharge their duties and provide good leadership.
The weekly sessions cover a range of topics from self-awareness, personality types and purpose identification to influencing others, effective and purposive communication, and public speaking.
The inaugural edition of the programme was met with positive reviews by the students who spoke about how it changed their perception of leadership, helped them understand and come to terms with their unique personalities and most of all, helped them with public speaking.
Leadership lessons
Whether in social, political, or business circles, Africa and indeed the world, suffer from a myriad of problems, the root of which is usually bad leadership.
How do we address the leadership problem?
Understanding that leadership is not a position but a state of mind, we teach self-leadership. The pre-teen and teenage years are a very critical developmental stage in any child’s life; mindsets are formed, identities are created, and talents are unearthed. Being grounded in self-leadership, students are empowered to make responsible personal decisions thereby increasing their capacity to positively influence others.
Our leadership lessons aim to expose the students to positive leadership values and principles, by primarily focusing on self-leadership. Topics covered include Empathy, Time Management, understanding personality types (Introvert/Extrovert), and personal responsibility.
The weekly sessions are conducted on a class-by-class basis, for maximum student engagement. Facilitators encourage students to voice their candid opinions in an atmosphere free from judgement. With the aid of practical examples, real-life case studies and biblical references, students are encouraged to re-evaluate their position where necessary, to the end that they can arrive at the right perspective on topics discussed.
