It was another inspiring trip, for Wellspring College Fine Art students, as they went “beyond the classroom” to the Universal Studio of Arts, National Theater.
Students met with veteran artists Fidelis Odogu, Olajide Salako and Godfrey Okoje who ran them through the technicalities of creating spectacular metal, clay, wood sculptures and impasto paintings.
Most enlightening was the ‘waste to wealth” initiative which involves the upcycling of discarded mechanical and iron parts. Scraps from motorcycles, generators and other machines are collected and crafted into monumental metal statues.
Students ended their visit to the studio with an engaging session on still life drawing. Our students were truly inspired.
