On Tuesday the 11th of February, 2020, Wellspring College held its 14th annual Inter-house sports competition at the Agege stadium, Agege Lagos.
The event commenced with an opening prayer by Mrs. I. Isimoya; wife of the founder. The event was graced by invited guests, parents and well-wishers. It was chaired by Hon. Wahab Olawale Alawiye-King, the executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Maryland, Lagos, the special guest of honour was Mr. Yinka Adebayo, the Executive Director, Media Investments at MediaReach OMD, Maryland, Lagos.
The principal, Mrs. O.O Oloriade urged parents to encourage their children/wards to engage in sports and also develop their talents in other fields. This, according to her would help ensure a sound mind and body, and make them more successful individuals in the society.
The Inter-house sports competition was very colourful, and keenly contested by six houses; Grace, Favour, Goodness, Praise, Mercy and Joy. It featured various track, field and indoor games some of which were determined during the heats held at the school premises.
The houses put on an enthralling march past. Invited schools also competed in a 4×100 relay race and Wellspring College parents participated in the parents’ race. SS3 students and their parents graced the tracks in a dance procession in celebration of their last Inter-house sports at the College. Music was provided by the police band.
Favour house emerged as the winner of the competition, while Goodness House and Grace House came second and third respectively.
The event came to a close with closing prayers and vote of thanks by the Vice-principal, Mr. M.O Elufisan.
